Hey everyone, welcome back to my weekly blog! If you’re in our little corner of Missouri, you know this past week has been anything but calm. The storms that rolled through have left quite a mark—not just on our town, but on the surrounding areas too. I wanted to take a moment to share what we’ve been experiencing here.

It all started about a week ago when the skies darkened and the wind picked up. We’ve had a series of intense storms, bringing everything from pounding rain to some pretty scary thunder and lightning. Parts of southern Missouri, not too far from us, got hit especially hard. I’ve heard reports of flash flooding in places like West Plains, where streets turned into rivers and folks had to scramble to protect their homes and businesses. Some areas even saw tornado warnings, which kept us all on edge, glued to our weather apps and local news.

Here in our small town, we didn’t escape unscathed either. The rain came down in sheets, flooding low spots and making a mess of a few back-roads. I know a couple of neighbors had trees come down—thankfully, no one was hurt, but it’s been a busy few days with cleanup. Power flickered on and off for some of us, and driving through the area, you can see the aftermath: debris scattered, yards soggy, and a few roofs that’ll need patching up.

What’s wild is how widespread this weather has been. Areas around us have been dealing with their own challenges—tornadoes touched down in some counties, and the hail I heard about sounded like it could’ve dented a car or two. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable spring can be in Missouri. One minute it’s quiet, the next you’re battening down the hatches.

The good news? Our community’s pulling together as always. Neighbors are checking in, sharing generators, and lending a hand where they can. It’s tough to see the damage, but it’s heartwarming to see everyone step up. As I write this on April 6, 2025, things are finally starting to settle, though the forecast says we’re not totally out of the woods yet. Here’s hoping for calmer days ahead—and maybe a little sunshine to dry us out.

Stay safe, everyone, and let me know how you’ve been holding up in the comments. See you next week!
